When The Trains Came
Produced by: Hilary McLennan
Last year, Britain was joined to Europe by a tunnel that was to alter the course of history. As public celebrations heralded the future, few remembered those whose private world had changed forever. In the shadow of the channel Tunnel Terminal, the Kent village of Newington Peene adjusted to its new neighbor. History was preserved when their original railway station was reinstated as a museum. The villagers own the plot and have created something out of nothing . BBC Producer Hilary McLennan and reporter Sara Parker present a town attempting to preserve life as it was before "the trains came".
