For a century, Ma Bell and her Bell System controlled the entire telephone operating system. In 1982, an agreement between AT&T and the Department of Justice allowed for the breakup of the largest corporation in America, the telephone company. No one realized the impact divestiture would have on society. Producer Gregg McVicar recounts the history of the telephone and discovers that breaking up is hard to do.
